NBA player Harrison Barnes is giving Dallas $30,000 to help house people experiencing homelessness. The gift will be used by the the City of Dallas Office of Homeless Solutions (OHS) Fund at the Communities Foundation of Texas to help about two dozen people gain permanent housing.
Barnes is a forward for the Sacramento Kings, but he played for the Dallas Mavericks from 2016 until he was traded to the Kings in 2019. He said in a statement that he and his wife were moved to make their donation after watching last month s winter storm ravage Dallas.
PROGRESS is well underway for the £200k refurbishment of a town play park. Construction work began on St George s Road Park in Millom on January 4, after receiving just over £200,000 in funding from Copeland Council. The park will include state-of-the-art climbing towers and slides, group swings and spinning equipment to entertain the children of Millom for years to come. The park is currently in phase 1 of the renovation plans which includes the complete refurbishment of the older children s play area. Funding for phase 2, which covers the infants and younger juniors play area has been granted by the FCC Communities Foundation, who awarded £99,949 for the renovation plans.
