Man Group to plough £400m into affordable housing

The firm, working through its Global Private Markets business, set up its Community Housing Fund last year. It said it has now closed its first fund raise, securing cash from a raft of investors including £20m from Homes England.  Man Group has already agreed to fund a project by Ilke Homes

LONDON, April 10 In a first for the United Kingdom, a dedicated retirement home for members of the LGBT community is set to open in 2021, thanks to support from the city of London. The building for the new facility, which boasts a restaurant, bar and rooftop terrace, was designed by architect Norman Foster. Breaking new ground in the UK, Mayor of London Sadiq Khan has confirmed that the Greater London Authority’s Community Housing Fund will provide a loan of 5.7 million pounds sterling for the creation of a new retirement home that will be the first of its kind. Located in the Vauxhall neighbourhood on the south bank of the Thames, the new facility will specifically cater to members of the LGBT community.
