State Sen. Gene Yaw, R-Loyalsock Township, state Rep. Jeff Wheeland, R-Loyalsock Township, and state Rep. Joe Hamm, R-Hepburn Township, announced several significant investments for Lycoming County through the Commonwealth Financing Authority on Wednesday.
“I was pleased to advocate for all of these projects approved today by the CFA,” Yaw said, according to a news release. “Our legislative advocacy is strong and we are fortunate to have many good local officials who are forward thinking in planning these projects, cleaning up our environment and promoting economic growth for our region. These investments have a positive impact for all residents.”

In Williamsport, the Economic and Community Growth Corp. has been awarded $200,000 as part of a transition of a blighted brownfield property into a multi-field, regional baseball and softball complex. Knoxvillle Mayor Indya Kincannon and Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs jointly announced the appointments of seven people to the newly formed Sports Authority that would oversee the repayment of debt incurred in the construction of a proposed Tennessee Smokies baseball stadium in Knoxville s Old City.
The announcement advances the partnership of the city and county in the venture, and comes on the heels of a compromise proposed by Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee, lawmakers and local leaders that would provide a $13.5 million state grant to avoid having to expand the sales tax district that will collect money to pay for the stadium s construction.
