Ahmedabad: An eight-year-old male leopard s carcass was recently found at a bridge nearby the Sanathal crossroads in Sarkhej. It is believed to have been hit by an unidentified vehicle on Sunday evening (January 31). As a result, the forest department sent the body of the leopard to the concerned department for a post-mortem examination.
Ahmedabad Deputy Conservator of Forest (Social Forestry) Sakkira Begum opened up on the incident and said, The animal was killed while crossing the bridge. Our officials traced pugmarks up to 2.5km on the left side of the bridge. We are tracing it further to ascertain if the animal has carried out any kill in the nearby villages.”

Sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided residential property and offices pertaining to two government officials in Hubballi and Dharwad on Tuesday and found ₹59 lakh in cash and assets worth crores of rupees in the house of one.
The searches were carried out by Superintendent of Police (ACB) B.S. Nemagouda and Deputy Superintendent of Police Venugopal in the houses pertaining to executive engineer of minor irrigation Devaraj Kalmesh Shiggavi at Rajiv Nagar, Balaji Nagar (near Bengeri) and Kotilinga Nagar in Hubballi. Background
The people of Nanga Lauk Village have set a target of reducing CO2 equivalent emissions by 1,512 tonnes through their village forest management project. This figure was calculated through an analysis of local forest and land cover, which is undertaken every five years.
The project has received support from various institutions through the Sustainable Commodities Conservation Mechanism (SCCM): an innovative financing mechanism that helps secure long-term funding from commodity supply chains for high-quality conservation and restoration initiatives in Southeast Asia.
The Nanga Lauk village forest management project, which is due to last for 25 years (2019-2034), has been registered under Plan Vivo. This a standard that is given to projects which provide real, tangible benefits to both the environment and communities in the Global South.
