Major retailers have signed up to a cash acceptance pledge, helping to ensure that customers who want to pay in coins and banknotes will not be excluded by the transition to digital payments, Which? has said.
Aldi, Asda, Co-op, John Lewis, LloydsPharmacy and Waitrose have made the public commitment to keep accepting cash in their stores.

The total amount of cash deposited by people at Post Office branches topped £1 billion for the second month in a row in April.
The Post Office said it is the first time that personal deposits have been in excess of £1 billion for two successive months.
Some £1.07 billion was deposited over its counters, following personal cash deposits of £1.12 billion in March.
