At the FCCLA State Competition on March 13, a pair of Tigers placed, with one winning a state championship. Competing virtually, two Fayette County High students finished among Georgia’s best in culinary categories.
Kayce Davis, a sophomore, won first place in the FCCLA State Knife Skills competition. To win, one must examine and perform all aspects of kitchen knife and classic knife skills, apply effective setup through lab practice, and demonstrate competency skills in many different knife cut techniques. Along with the gold medal, Davis was awarded the top cash prize of $100.

BLOOMINGDALE Early childhood education students took to technology to showcase their skills by recording virtual submissions for the Family Career and Community Leaders of America regional competition.
Eight students filmed presentations on projects they completed in the ECE preschool classroom to earn medals and potentially advance to the state and national competitions. Five Howell High School Students have earned honors at a recent state leadership conference.
Students in the schoolâs Family Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) club participated in the Michigan FCCLA State Leadership Conference. This yearâs conference was held virtually. In it, students competed in various events, ranging from culinary arts and teaching to career exploration and community service.
Lacey Parton competed in the Professional Presentation category where she scored a gold medal for sharing the importance of mental health. She has worked in the school district to promote student wellbeing along with advocating in Lansing for a proposal that would require the suicide hotline number be included on student ID cards. For her efforts, Parton will represent Michigan in the FCCLA national conference in Nashville, later this year.
