Unlike the first round, which included teachers and farm workers, workers won’t need a booking code from their employers to schedule appointments, Mackie said.
The health unit will also open appointments at its vaccination centres to people 40 and older in the area Thursday at 8 a.m. Mackie expects intense demand for clinic appointments from that age group, but the availability of Oxford-AstraZeneca shots at pharmacies and doctors’ offices in recent weeks will have an impact.
“The 27,000 or so vaccines that have gone out (in London, through pharmacies or primary care) have largely gone to people 40 to 60,” he said.
All drive-thru and walk-in clinics will be on a
first-come, first-served basis. No appointment is necessary. Residents can attend at their convenience. However, if you have a booked appointment and choose to attend a drive-thru or walk-in clinic, please ensure you cancel this appointment to allow others eligible to take your place. Please ensure you check the most up-to-date information at www.saskatchewan.ca/drive-thru-vax before attending any drive-thru/walk-in clinic. Vaccine supply remains limited so as a result drive-thru/walk-in clinics may close early, depending on demand. Photo by File Photo YTW Effective 8 a.m. on May 4, 2021, eligibility in the provincial age-based immunization program moves to age 37 and older, except for residents living in the Northern Saskatchewan Administration District, where it moves to age 18 and older. This applies to all immunization clinics: booked appointments, drive-thru/walk-in, mobile, and pharmacy. Approximately 8,000 appointments will be added to the Patient Booking System, effective 8 a.m., May 4, 2021, for booked appointments at SHA clinics, in addition to pharmacy appointments, and drive-thru and walk-in clinics. Pharmacy immunization details can be found at www.saskatchewan.ca/covid19-pharmacies. article continues below Reminder to residents that clinic availability is based on vaccine availability, and demand for appointments outweighs the current supply. When age eligibility opens to a younger group appointments fill up fast, particularly in urban centres like Regina and Saskatoon
