OSWEGO â The Oswego High School Interact Club has still been finding ways to give back this year, even with social distancing.
The Interact Club works with the Oswego Rotary Club with the focus on âservice above self,â and the goal of members is to be a part of something greater than themselves while being involved in projects to give back to the community.
In past years, the club worked together to make and donate baby blankets to the maternity ward at Oswego Hospital, and had to get creative with remote learning and COVID-19 protocols in place to fill the need this year.

MALONE â Shortly before the pandemic changed the daily lives of people around the world, a local woman traveled to Southeast Asia, volunteering as part of a group that went to Cambodia to provide dental care to children.
Lauren LaBare, of Malone, was the sole dental hygienist among 17 volunteers on the trip to Siem Reap, in the northwestern portion of the country, in November 2019.
LaBare described her time in Cambodia as a unique experience, and one that was incredibly rewarding, explaining how happy the children whose teeth she cleaned were to receive dental care.
âIt was amazing to see the kidsâ smiles after we cleaned their teeth,â LaBare said, âI found that they were very gracious and appreciative.â
