2020 presented many challenges for Cork County Council and the communities we serve. The resilience, flexibility and adaptability of the Council working alongside statutory bodies, volunteer organisations, families and communities enabled us to respond effectively to these challenges, while paving the way for future success in the region.
Prior to the global pandemic in March, Cork County Council made international news in its response to the grounding of the ghost ship MV Alta on the coast of Ballycotton.
The holiday season is in full swing. By now, you’ve probably ordered gifts for everyone on your list, have your cookies baked, and have cocktail recipes on standby for all your Zoom happy hours. Now, there’s just one thing left to do: give back.
Now’s the perfect time to sit and reflect on what a wild year it’s been. It’s also a time to count your blessings, and give back where you can to those who may need a little helping hand. Here are a few last-minute ways you can give this season to ensure everyone feels a little love.

The
Minister for Planning and Local Government, Peter Burke TD, has described Cork County Council’s role in the local response to the COVID-19 pandemic to date as vital. He was speaking during a visit to Bandon to thank local authority staff for their work and visit businesses who have benefited from local authorities’ supports.
Cork County Council has provided a range of economic and social supports in response to challenges arising from the pandemic. These have included:
€28 million in Restart Grants administered to businesses, 913 Trading Online Vouchers and 715 Business Continuity Vouchers so far in 2020
