A group of Des Moines business and civic leaders who were working to transform the Des Moines Social Club into a year-round indoor market has decided to sell the landmark building.
The building, at 900 Mulberry St. in downtown Des Moines, will be put up for sale on Monday. Its future is uncertain, after years of financial turmoil at the Des Moines Social Club, and, recently a failed $7 million plan to reinvent its use. While the campus will be sold, we are grateful to be able to honor the spirit and intent to serve the arts, culture and the community by donating proceeds from the sale to establish the endowment,” said chair Rob Feeney, who is also president and chief operating officer of Atlantic Bottling Company.

Community Foundation announces lineup for next program in DonorConnect series Thursday, April 15, 2021 10:38 AM The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines will host the next in its DonorConnect series on April 28 to learn more from the nonprofit and foundation community about what s ahead in the recovery from the coronavirus pandemic. The next session of DonorConnect: Nonprofit Resilience as We Face the Future will feature Angie Dethlets-Trettin, chief community impact officer for the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines; Izaah Knox, executive director of Urban Dreams; Dawn Martinez Oropeza, executive director of Al Exito; Renee Miller, chief community impact officer of United Way of Central Iowa; Suzanne Mineck, president of Mid-Iowa Foundation; and Tray Wade, president and CEO of EveryStep.   Wright County Charitable Foundation is calling for non-profit organizations to submit grant applications for consideration during the Spring 2021 grant cycle, which runs from March 15 to April 16. Late applications will not be considered.
ââEach grant applicant is required to match a portion of the funds necessary to complete the project. Volunteer labor hours can be considered as match, along with the funds needed to complete each project.
