Ipad loan program coming to Prince George connects autistic community members

The Canucks Autism Network is bringing an iPad loan program for children, youth, and adults on the autism spectrum to Prince George.
In collaboration with Sources Community Resource Centres (SOURCES), the initiative will provide local families with the technology required to participate in CAN’s online social and recreation programs.
Since 2017, CAN has provided autism training and developed relationships across the Northern BC region.
In response to COVID-19, CAN has launched 16 weekly virtual programs, delivered in over Zoom.
“Programs range from sports and recreation, art, science and social opportunities for children, youth and adults on the autism spectrum,” said Canucks Autism Network VP Stephanie Jull.

United Way approves $150K in emergency community funding

Following the United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta’s second call for applications for the Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF), the Government of Canada has released the balance of funding for ECSF which is being administered in collaboration with United Way Centraide Canada, Community Foundations of Canada and the Canadian Red Cross. United Way of Lethbridge & South Western Alberta has received nearly $350,000 in funding requests from 16 organizations operating community programs and services that support vulnerable community members. To date, 10 organizations have been approved for a total of $150,349.
