Seniors Minister Deb Schulte wants Conservative Leader Erin O’Toole and his caucus to stop delaying Bill C-14, the Economic Statement Implementation Act.
“On behalf of Canadian seniors, I am pleading with you to please stop the delay,” Schulte wrote on Sunday in a letter addressed to the Conservative leader.
The bill, which would implement certain provisions of the Liberal government’s fall economic statement, was tabled on Nov. 30, 2020.
According to Schulte, the legislation would provide “urgently needed help for seniors.”
Schulte says the money would prevent the spread of COVID-19, pay for COVID testing, and help seniors access virtual and mental-health care.
