The Indiana State Department of Health reported 2,389 new cases of COVID-19 among Indiana residents Saturday.
The state also recorded 43 additional deaths that happened between Dec. 23, 2020 and Friday. That brings to 9,592 the total number of Hoosiers who have died from the virus since March. Another 375 probable deaths have been reported in patients who died with COVID-19 symptoms but had no positive test for the virus.
As of Saturday, 551,527 Hoosiers had received a first dose of vaccine, and 137,823 are fully vaccinated, according to IDHS.
