Vermont Business Magazine While total COVID-19 cases appear to have plateaued and there were only 79 yesterday, according to the Vermont Department of Health, there were five more deaths for a statewide total of 117. The Moderna vaccine is already being used to vaccinate residents and staff of nursing homes and long-term care facilities in Vermont. In the meantime, the VDH is urging patience in waiting your turn and also diligence in adhering to COVID health guidance: wear a mask; keep social distance; wash hands; quarantine if you travel; and stay home if you re sick. COVID testing is free. New guidance will allow you to have Christmas with one other trusted household.

Officials give vaccination update, urge Vermonters to stay safe for the holidays
Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD, said at Friday’s press conference that all hospitals have now received their allocation of COVID-19 vaccine for the first week and have been busy vaccinating their higher risk healthcare staff.
Meanwhile, the state pharmacy partners CVS, Walgreens and HealthDirect/Kinney Drugs are scheduled to begin clinics at long-term care facilities next week.

“We now have a safe and effective vaccine developed in an unprecedented amount of time and it’s here, in Vermont,” said Health Commissioner Mark Levine, MD. “This is a truly pivotal moment in the pandemic one that should give us hope for the future. But at the same time, we must remember this is just the start of a long process to receive and administer enough vaccine to bring COVID-19 under control.”
The Health Department has been allocated weekly shipments of 5,850 doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine through December. We also expect to receive an equal number of the second dose in the coming weeks, Dr. Levine said.
