Nice and Sleazy raise thousands to cover cost of legendary doorman Big John s funeral Thousands of pounds has been raised to cover the funeral costs of a legendary Glasgow doorman, following the news of his passing on Sunday. Heartbroken staff at Nice and Sleazy have launched an online fundraiser for the family of Big John Frazer, who worked at the city centre bar as a door steward for three decades. The father-of-two, described as a true gentleman and a saint , sadly died in his sleep at the weekend having recently suffered from heart problems. Since his passing, devastated staff at the Sauchiehall Street bar have raised over £9000 to cover the costs of the much-loved doorman s send-off.

The much-loved doorman was an instantly recognisable figure, and a key part of the Glasgow venue s charm.
Clash has enjoyed many shows at the venue over the years, which he always been an important facet of the city s music scene.
Big John was an integral aspect of that, with news of his passing being confirmed online by musicians connected to the venue.
Franz Ferdinand frontman Alex Kapranos recalled being chucked out of Nice N Sleazy due to misbehaviour and recalled Big John being very jovial, compassionate, but firm.
Very sad to hear about Big John, doorman of Nice n Sleazy and loved by many in Glasgow. A lovely guy and a presence that will be greatly missed. That time he had to kick me out for misbehaviour, he was very jovial, compassionate, but firm. Rest in peace, big man.
