We believe the best collective agreements are the ones made at the table between the parties. However, after over two and half years of federally-supported negotiation and having exhausted all other options, legislation was necessary to avoid further and lasting harm to our economy, including the loss of a significant number of jobs.

Bernie Sanders intervenes in NYU graduate student strike as UAW prepares sell-out The strike of 2,000 New York University (NYU) graduate students is nearing the end of its first week. As the United Auto Workers (UAW), with which the Graduate Student Organizing Committee (GSOC) is affiliated, is stepping up efforts to shut it down as quickly as possible, the Democratic Party is heavily intervening in the strike. At NYU, finals are beginning next week, the UAW is clearly pushing to shut down the NYU strike as quickly as possible.

Court upholds decision of Marco PD officer s reinstatement, backpay

. A new ruling marks the latest victory for former Marco Island police officer Tige Thompson in a two-year-long saga that has now seen the Marco Island resident terminated twice by the department.  Of course we re happy about the decision, Gulf Coast Police Benevolent Association President Matt Sellers said. Tige s original dismissal from the police department was based on the state attorney choosing not to have him testify in court. And that was based on discipline that was not supported by just or reasonable cause. We re very happy about this decision, but the fight is not over.   Messages seeking comment from the police department weren t returned.
