ONE of Worcester’s main routes over the River Severn finally re-opened yesterday after months of work. Sabrina Bridge officially re-opened at midday on January 29. Following the completion of the works, the temporary traffic lights in Hylton Road are expected to remain in place for another two weeks. Work on replacing the bridge began back in October and saw the main span of the bridge removed and replaced with a new composite deck, designed to work better in the winter months. Originally built in 1992 by Worcester City Council, the refurb is the first time the bridge has been changed, though regular maintenance work has been carried out over the decades since.
