Together, the Rose Creek Bikeway and the Mid-Coast extension of the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley represent a significant step toward realizing the Vision for SANDAG s 2021 Regional Plan, Blakespear said. These projects will provide real alternatives to driving alone, helping people connect to major destinations and activity centers around the region while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
The Rose Creek Bikeway is intended to provide a safe option for people to bike or walk between points north such as Sorrento Valley, University City and UCSD, and points south including Mission Bay, Pacific Beach, Mission Valley and downtown San Diego.
SAN DIEGO (KUSI) – Local leaders were on hand Wednesday for the opening of the Rose Creek Bikeway, a multi-use path between the Rose Canyon Bike Path in University City and the Rose Creek Bike Path in Pacific Beach.
San Diego Association of Governments Chair and Encinitas Mayor Catherine Blakespear joined San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria, Council President Jennifer Campbell, bike advocates and community leaders to open the bikeway, which fills a two-mile gap in the Regional Bike Network as part of the Coastal Rail Trail.
The bikeway was constructed concurrently with the Mid-Coast extension of the UC San Diego Blue Line Trolley.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) â The Ocean Beach Pier partially reopened to visitors on Friday, after being closed for months after high surf battered and damaged portions of the pier s railing.
The pier has been undergoing repairs since the January storm. Crews have made immediate repairs to make a portion of the pier safe for the public, including several new railings and repairs to service lines for the pier s cafe, according to the city.

The brass bells tied across the handle of Cleotilde Dimas’ ice cream push-cart rang until their sound echoed down a residential street in Stockton on a recent afternoon.
The familiar jingle captured 3-year-old Anthony Jr. s attention. He crossed the street with his father to pick out a sweet treat.
“Gordo, cual quieres,” Anthony Flores said, asking his son what ice cream he wanted. Anthony Jr. grabbed a lime-flavored ice pop from Dimas’ ice cream cart.
Dimas has been running a micro-business selling cartoon-shaped frozen treats, chocolate ice cream sandwiches, and chips with lime and chili for more than 20 years in the neighborhoods of Stockton, Logan Heights and Grant Hill.
