Horsham Rural City Councillors recently met with community representatives who have prepared a Community Vision for our municipality.
There was much excitement in the room and so much positivity for our region’s future.
What a wonderful process of openness and transparency to lead us toward 2041. Thank you to all the participants for giving up their time to develop these most important set of recommendations that will ultimately inform our Council Plan.
The Community Vision will go to Council for adoption soon and we hope to look into a regular forum to continue the conversations.

Clear vision for our community
An exciting vision for Maroondah has now been finalised after the adoption of two key documents that will serve our community in the years ahead.
At Council meeting on Monday 28 June, Councillors endorsed the Council Plan 2021-2025 and the 2021/22 Budget. This follows extensive consultation and work to prepare the documents. Together, the Plan and Budget establish our key directions and priority actions and set out how they will be achieved.
The Council Plan plays a vital role in shaping Maroondah’s future over a four-year period, as it ensures the work and priorities set by Council align with the community’s vision. It identifies both challenges and opportunities for our community at local and regional levels within the context of our long-term community vision Maroondah 2040 – Our future together. It also forms the basis for Council to make decisions regarding resources and priorities in response to community needs and aspirations,

Council adopts 2021-22 budget, Community Vision & Council Plan
A break-even budget that focusses on rebuilding the local economy, with a big capital works spend are among the highlights of Indigo Shire’s 2021-22 budget.
At the June Council meeting, Council adopted the budget along with the new Council Plan 2021-2025 and 10-year Community Vision as well as a number of other strategic documents.
While the budget focusses on the next 12 months, the Council Plan sets out the key priorities for Council to focus on over the four years of its term.
Under the new Local Government Act 2020, all Victorian Councils must develop a Community Vision, which has an outlook of at least 10 years and describes the community’s aspirations for the future of the Shire.
