Ask Danny Kovalski why he runs and he will tell you it is cathartic.
Itâs a time to reflect on all aspects of his life. To think about what heâs been through. To think about how thankful he is to be here.
âItâs an opportunity to think about everything that has happened, the reason why Iâm running, and itâll push me to the end,â Kovalski said.
Running didnât always serve that purpose for him. It does now.
This weekend he will participate in the second David Goggins 4x4x48 Challenge, where he will run (or walk) 4 miles every 4 hours for a total of 48 hours as part of a fundraiser to benefit the Allied Services Foundation.
Roy Exum: My Friend, Bobby Lee Friday, February 26, 2021 - by Roy Exum
Roy Exum
So, the day came that I had closed the door to my office, as I sometimes did after we’d gotten that day’s editions of the Chattanooga News-Free Press to bed. My door was never closed … I hate that … but it only meant I was writing a column and was a sign to everybody I needed an hour or so of quiet. But, no, soon there was a slight knock on the door and, so help me, through the window stood “Colonel Sanders” of fried chicken fame. As I jumped to let the visitor in, he asked if I was “Roy” and as I realized this wasn’t the Harlan Sanders I had met at the Kentucky Derby, my visitor said, “We really need to talk.”

SALEM When high water flooded Wallace Marine Park and Cascades Gateway Park this winter, Lisa Letney lay awake hearing the sounds of a storm that would wash away tents and belongings in areas where Salem has allowed unsheltered people to camp because of Covid.
After reading a news article about the flooding, she thought about how she could help. Blankets would get soaked and buying lots of handwarmers could get costly, so she harkened to an old school style of warming up – hot potatoes.
