A HEALTH chief has denied his trust is “not fit for purpose” in the wake of another critical inspection by a care watchdog.  Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust was criticised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in an emergency inspection in January. Its unannounced visit included Roseberry Park Hospital, in Middlesbrough, focussing on acute wards and psychiatric intensive care at its Bransdale, Stockdale and Overdale wards, as well as wards at Darlington s West Park Hospital.  The watchdog ruled the mental health trust inadequate for under measures of “safe” and “well led” – finding there was “a lack of understanding from staff” about the risk assessment process, and what was expected of them.
