As police attempted to stop the vehicle, Parise tried to drive away from the area at a high rate of speed, officials said. A computer check indicated the vehicle was stolen.
Dozens of officers reported to the area, where they found McElmeel reportedly barricaded inside a home. The authorities remained there until he was arrested around 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. Police officers arrested the suspect in a Springfield shooting Tuesday morning.
Patrolling officers located Shawn Michael Jeffries, 29, of Springfield, around 3:30 a.m. in a parked vehicle at a market near 42nd Street and Jasper Road in Springfield.
According to the Springfield Police Department, Jeffries was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. He was taken into custody without incident. A second semi-automatic handgun which had been reported stolen was found during their investigtion.

EUGENE, Ore. A man was arrested at the Saturday Market this weekend after reportedly refusing to wear a mask or leave and acting like he was going to fight other customers.
Jesse Webb, 49, of Walton reportedly yelled at a vendor, and officers who made contact with him said he seemed to be in a drug-like state.
Police said the man actively fought officers when they tried to escort him out of the market. A Taser and pepper spray were used, but did not have an effect, police added.
