Three excise officials suspended, four persons arrested, magisterial probe ordered
Eleven people died on Friday and some more were taken ill after allegedly consuming spurious liquor sold by a licensed vendor here, a senior official said.
The authorities have ordered a magisterial probe into the incident and suspend five excise officials while four people, including the liquor vend owner, have been arrested.
The inquiry will be conducted by an Additional District Magistrate-rank officer, District Magistrate (DM) Chandra Bhushan Singh told mediapersons.

Aligarh, May 28 : As many as seven persons died and over a dozen were hospitalized in Uttar Pradesh s Aligarh district after consuming spurious liquor.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to take stern action against those responsible for the tragedy. He has ordered that the National Security Act (NSA) be invoked against the accused.
The incident took place in Karsua village in Lodha police circle.
All the victims had purchased and consumed liquor from a local vendor on Thursday night. Two of the deceased were employed as drivers.

Seventeen people died and another twelve were hospitalized in Aligarh district on Friday after they allegedly consumed spurious liquor sold by a licensed vendor, a senior official said. Many of those seriously ill in the hospital have reported going blind.
One of the deceased was the driver of a tanker consigned to the HP Gas bottling plant. The other victims were truck drivers who had gathered at a gas depot on the Aligarh-Tapaal highway for work.
