The Windsor Essex County Health Unit announced 41 new cases of COVID-19 in Windsor and Essex County on Friday, bringing the local total to 12,294.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 12,253 on Thursday February 4th to 12,294 on Friday February 5th and 405 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 11 cases are outbreak-related, 11 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 7 cases are community acquired, and 12 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Today’s New Cases
Cases increased from 12,233 on Wednesday February 3rd to 12,253 on Thursday February 4th and 402 cases of COVID-19 are currently active in Windsor-Essex.

The Health Unit says 4 cases are outbreak-related, 4 cases are close contacts of confirmed cases, 6 cases are community acquired, 1 case is travel related outside of North America, and 5 cases are still being investigated by the Health Unit’s nursing staff.
Resolved Cases
That’s an increase of 68 resolved cases today.
Deaths
The Health Unit announced two new deaths from COVID-19 today bringing the local death toll to 334.
They say a man in his 80s from the community and man in his 90s from the community passed away.
Fewer tests aren t behind declining case counts, says Windsor-Essex top doc
Though testing numbers are down in Windsor-Essex, the region s medical officer of health says that isn t why cases are declining.
