WORK to refurbish Skew Bridge in Lake is underway, and a road closure will be put in place later today (Friday). From 7pm this evening, until 7am tomorrow, Sandown Road will be closed from its junction with Cemetery Road to its junction with Winchester House Car Park. Island Roads says the closure is necessary to enable the safe removal of the footbridge so it can be repainted and its deckplates can be replaced. The diversion will affect Cemetry Road, Green Lane, Landguard Manor Road, Landguard Road and Clarendon Road. Work is also underway on the Alresford Road bridge.
