Meet the local Chilean hip-hop artist now mixing up homemade empanadas

If you are ever at a bar and a hip-hop artist in a chef coat and hat is selling Chilean empanadas perhaps even willing to freestyle in order to entice you say yes and get the “Pino” empanada if there are any left. Or better yet, have him deliver some empanadas to your door. Known as Kilo Art-of-Fact, musician Julio Cordonnier recorded an album in 2016 called Illegal Alien with a DJ called Buddha Fingers. Now a U.S. citizen, he puts on an intense live show and recently recorded some cumbia music. But after spending several years working at countless restaurants in almost every capacity, Cordonnier now sells great traditional Chilean empanadas as Chef Key. These are the kinds of pockets he grew up eating, with recipes his relatives have been perfecting for decades. A few years ago, he started bringing these empanadas to gigs. From there, he began walking around bars in Fort Worth and Deep Ellum selling empanadas in a chef’s uniform.

Mexican Man Sentenced to Federal Prison for Immigration, Drug and Firearm Charges

April 23, 2021 Davenport, Ia-  A Mexican man has been sentenced in US District Court on multiple charges. On Wednesday, April 21, 2021, US District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose sentenced 30-year-old Ismael Salazar Montes,  of Nogales Sonora, Mexico, to 160 months in prison for Illegal Reentry, Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Substances, and Illegal Alien in Possession of Firearm and Ammunition. The investigation began in October 2019, when law enforcement stopped Salazar Montes’s vehicle in Mount Pleasant. After stopping the vehicle, a police dog alerted officers to the presence of narcotics. As officers searched the vehicle, Salazar Montes admitted he had a handgun in his suitcase. Officers searched the suitcase and located an unloaded, nine-millimeter Ruger handgun. Salazar Montes admitted he did not have a permit for the firearm and knew he could not lawfully possess the firearm because he was not legally present in the United States.

Biden Orders ICE Agents to Stop Using Terms Illegal Alien, Assimilation

19 Apr 2021 President Joe Biden’s administration is ordering Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, as well as agents with the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency, to stop using the terms “illegal alien” and “assimilation.” Memos sent by top Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials on Monday told ICE agents and CBP agents to stop referring to illegal aliens as “illegal aliens,” opting instead for the terms “noncitizen” or “migrant,” according to the Washington Post. The term “assimilation,” the DHS officials wrote in the memos, must be replaced with “integration” while “illegal” should be changed to “undocumented.” The Post reports:
