BHOPAL: Statewide crackdown against illicit liquor mafia in Madhya Pradesh in the wake of the recent hooch tragedy in Morena district has led to the seizure of illicit liquor from the house of a women wing leader of the ruling BJP.
Identified as Lalita Raje, the BJP Mahila Morcha head in Pohri sub-division of Shivpuri district of Gwalior-Chambal region has been arrested and booked under the provisions of the Excise Act.

UP: 5 dead, 7 hospitalised after consuming spurious liquor in Bulandshahr
Five persons have died and seven have been hospitalized in critical condition after consuming spurious liquor in Jeet Garhi village under Secunderabad police station limits Bulandshahr on Thursday night.
Bulandshahr Senior Superintendent of Police has suspended three policemen, including the chowki in-charge for alleged dereliction of duty.
According to reports, all victims consumed liquor and went to their respective homes. After two to three hours, they started vomiting and their condition worsened.
The deceased include Satish, 35, Kalua, 40, Ranjit, 40 and Sukhpal 60.
Nine others also fell ill and five of them had to be hospitalised.

Bulandshahr/Lucknow:
Five people have died and 16 others hospitalised after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Uttar Pradesh s Bulandshahr district, police said on Friday.
The authorities have suspended four policemen and removed three senior Meerut zone excise officials from their post for laxity. An excise inspector and three other members of the department have also be suspended.
Police have also arrested the main accused, identified as Kuldeep. According to a government spokesperson in Lucknow, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to initiate stern action under the National Security Act and the Gangsters Act in the case.
