Labour union urges FG to maintain workers’ wage on exclusive list On Kindly Share This Story: The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSAGCOC) has urged the Federal Government to maintain workers’ wage on the exclusive list. The President General of SSAGCOC, Mr Muhammad Yunusa, made this call at the sidelines of the association’s National Administrative Council meeting in Abuja on Thursday. Yunusa said that the meeting was to discuss issues affecting its members both at the state and the federal levels, especially as it concerned the wage and its face-off with the Nigerian Labour Congress on unionising senior staff.

President Lazarus Chakwera reconstituted various parastatal boards including the NYCOM Board in September 2020. However, the reconstituted board received backlash from the council’s affiliates, saying it is illegal because it did not follow the Youth Act.

Union invites EFCC to probe alleged fraud in CAC Housing Scheme On Kindly Share This Story: Abuja Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies, SSASCGOC, an affiliate of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, has invited the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to investigate alleged fraud in Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC; housing scheme. According to SSASCGOC, “a situation where staff and even members of our union in other establishments were made to pay for provision of Houses under CAC Staff Housing Scheme in 2012 and are yet to get the house after full payment nine years after is worrisome.”  

We Will Proceed To Delink UNIMA-VP Chilima Declares

Vice-President Saulos Chilima says government will proceed to delink the University of Malawi (UNIMA) into three universities namely the Malawi University of Business and Applied Sciences MUBAS through Act No. 19 of 2019; the Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (KUHES); and the University of Malawi (UNIMA) passed as Act No. 18 of 2019. The Vice-President met with the Council of the University of Malawi today alongside the Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo, the Attorney General Chikosa Silungwe, Director of Higher Education Dr. Levis Eneya and officials from the Department of Statutory Corporations and Public Sector Reforms where government’s position on the delinking was communicated.
