Details about AMD s low-power low-cost Van Gogh APU emerge - CPU - News

We keep a close eye on the AMD vs Intel battle if the fields of desktop PCs and performance / gaming laptops, but there is another intense battle going on in the more generalist laptop market where low-power thin and light designs are popular for portability and great battery life. In this market Intel s Tiger Lake-U processors look set to be popular, offering a good balance of performance and low power usage (7.5W to 18W TDP envelope). However, it may about to face tough competition with the introduction of AMD Van Gogh. Moore s Law Is Dead (MLID) took to YouTube just ahead of the weekend to provide a sketch of the key specs of AMD Van Gogh APU and its capabilities from various sources including his own. The key bullet point slide about AMD s unannounced mobile APU is reproduced below for your convenience. Remember, these are just rumours for now.

Purported Intel Xe-HPG graphics card pictured and detailed - Graphics - News

Some interesting pictures and rather detailed information about Intel s upcoming Xe-HPG discrete desktop DG2 graphics cards for PC gamers has been shared on YouTube. Intel teased some revelations about its Xe-HPG last month but all we got was a head-scratching Easter egg scavenger hunt, so this news is welcome but requires a dash of salt, with its anonymous sources. TechTuber Moore s Law Is Dead (MLID) published this video earlier today. Described as a full-leak of the Intel Xe-HPG DG2 graphics card with 512EUs, MLID showed us the images of a graphics card engineering sample, as reproduced in samples above and below.

Gigabyte X570S motherboard spotted, could be linked to Zen 3 refresh

Gigabyte has listed eight new X570S motherboards on the EEC database. According to some sources, this new chipset is linked to the rumoured Zen 3+ refresh, although others claim that this is just a more efficient fanless version of the X570 chipset.  According to a report from VideoCardz, the Gigabyte X570S motherboards are launching in preparation for new Zen 3+ refresh processors, codenamed “Warhol”. However, it is worth noting that Moore’s Law is Dead has disputed this, claiming that this is just a more efficient X570 chipset, with the “S” standing for “Silent”, indicating no fans on the motherboard itself.

Gigabyte AMD X570S chipset motherboards spotted

X570S UD. Of course the S suffix could mean anything, or nothing, but Nvidia and partners relatively recently started to use the suffix for Super or faster versions of existing graphics cards. So, is this a super enhanced chipset based upon the X570? Well, YouTuber Moore s Law Is Dead confidently asserted in reply to VideoCardz news tweet that the S simply represented Silent . The story therefore goes that the X570S motherboards don t need that little active fan over the chipset to operate smoothly any more. The fan s introduction was not happily accepted by enthusiasts and PC DIYers. Chipset fans used by various AMD partners were tiny, whereas the trend nowadays is for larger slower moving fans or to get rid of fans entirely with heatsinks, heatpipes or other means.
