House of Reps activities digitalised in less than a year - NASS Clerk

The Clerk to the National Assembly (CNA), Architect Amos Olatunde Ojo, on Tuesday, revealed that activities of the lower Chamber of the National Assembly have been digitalised. The CNA stated this during a 2-day working visit of the members of the National Assembly Service Commission led by the Chairman of the Commission, Engr. Ahmed Kadi Amshi to the National Assembly complex in Abuja. Ojo said the feat was made possible within one year of the new NASS leadership because of cooperation and understanding of the Commission members, assuring that the continued cooperation, would make them to also digitalise activities of the Senate chambers.

Professor Magaji Garba, the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University (FUGUS) Gusau, in Zamfara State, has revealed that armed bandits operating in the northwest geopolitical zone of the country have killed over 30,000 and rendered more than 3million people homeless. The VC disclosed this during the 1st National Conference on armed banditry and national security in Nigeria held, Tuesday in Gusau the state capital. According to him, statistics have indicated how banditry and terror attacks affected the entire north in particular and country in general. The national conference, which was organized by Department of Political science Federal University Gusau, had the theme “Armed Banditry and National Security in Nigeria, Issues, Perspective and the Way Forward”.

The protest, led by labour leaders, was held within the premises of the state Assembly complex, where they rendered series of derisive songs to castigate the Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission over the action. Addressing the dismissed workers, the Secretary of the Ekiti State Joint Negotiating Council, Gbenga Olowoyo, said it was wrong for the commission to have speedily sent the names of the affected workers to the state accountant-general to stop their salaries while negotiation lasted.

Labour kicks as Ekiti Assembly dismisses 21 staff for absenteeism, irregular appointment, others

The Ekiti State House of Assembly Service Commission on Tuesday dismissed 21 staff of the Assembly over irregular appointment and absenteeism among others. The commission’s Chairman, Taiwo Olatunbosun, who disclosed this in a statement in Ado-Ekiti, said the staff were dismissed after the commission’s management reviewed the report of a staff audit undertaken last year in a bid to reorganize the Assembly for effective service delivery. He said: “The audit which discovered some irregularities ranging from hiding, alteration and mutilation of files, advancement of staff without due process, appointees illegally retained in the system after expiration of tenure, arbitrary transfer of service without cognate experience, overage staff members, irregular appointments/promotion of staff without approval, cases of forgeries and arbitrary placement of officers with utter disregard to scheme of service among others.
