BJP should admit PAGD has pan J-K presence: Omar Abdullah ANI | Updated: Dec 24, 2020 00:19 IST
Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], December 23 (ANI): With the People s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) leading in the District Development Council (DDC) elections, National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) should admit that they had a pan-Jammu and Kashmir presence. I congratulate the BJP for their three seats (in Kashmir) but what about our 35 seats in Jammu? They should admit that we have a pan-J-K presence. The BJP keeps calling us a Kashmir-based party. If we are Kashmir based with 35 seats in Jammu, then they are not even fully Jammu-based, Abdullah said.
How do you look back at your own detention and that of other leaders after August 5, 2019?
There was no justification. Specially the grounds. I was detained because of perception over a boycott call and mobilization. The moment we went to challenge our detention in a court, the government withdrew our detentions and set us free. It leaves us with a bitter taste. I would say I was still better off even in isolation. Others went to Agra and other parts of UP. Much water has flowed under the bridge now since then. I am not the sort of person to live in the past. We move on. But we would hope the voice of the people of J&K would be heard. We will look for solutions within the four walls of the Constitution and for solutions that involve violence. Some wanted us to boycott the polls and they can have the propaganda tool to beat us with; we didn’t.
