Allahabad University Vice Chancellor Sangita Srivastava has complained about the “noise” caused due to azaan, the call to prayers in Islam, from a mosque in the locality where she lives in Prayagraj, NDTV reported on Wednesday.

Meantime, a meeting was held on the campus on Tuesday which was attended by all the deans and heads of the departments. Presided over by vice chancellor Prof Sangita Srivastava, the meeting reached a consensus that the arts faculty would be opened for research scholars.

PRAYAGRAJ: Hinting towards taking strong action against those inmates of various hostels of Allahabad University who have forcefully taken possession of their rooms despite the fact that all the hostels of AU, and those of trust, are closed because of present corona crisis, the varsity authorities have decided that degree of these inmates could be withheld if they do not vacate the hostels.
Moreover, these inmates could also face ban from appearing in the examination of their respective course. An order to this affect was issued by AU’s dean student welfare (DSW) Prof KP Singh. As of now, we don t have any intention of vacating the hostels but yes, if the inmates wants to stay back, they have to pay the fine which is five times that of the regular monthly fee , said AU VC, Prof Sangita Srivastava.
