Photo courtesy Zoo Knoxville Zoo Knoxville’s Amphibian and Reptile Conservation Campus (ARC) opened early this month after an extensive $18 million, 2.5-acre expansion dedicated specifically to reptiles and amphibians. The ARC now features 85 species of reptiles and amphibians, including 38 endangered reptile and amphibian species. “It is unlike any experience we have been able to offer our guests before,” CEO and President Lisa New said in a statement released by the zoo. “The entire building is immersive you are close to the animals, you can see our herpetologists at work, you can feel the climate changes in the Conservatory and Greenhouse and you can use the dynamic interactives to appreciate these incredible animals.”

The new exhibit will be open in time for the zoo’s opening day, Saturday, May 1, according to a press release. Named in honor of its donors, the new Dr. Edward Drew & Dr. Pamela Buitendorp-Drew Wolf Den will be located on the east side of the zoo.
