1.Sneakers vs Stilletos
Serena van der Woodsen played by Blake Lively and Blair Waldorf played by Leighton Meester would have probably never had even considered wearing sneakers, but sneakers sneak up on us everywhere we look it seems on the sets of the reboot of Gossip Girl . While Jordan Alexander who plays Julien Calloway certainly seems to have the most of a predilection towards sneakers, many of the other cast members like Whitney Peak who plays Zoya Lott, who comes from an entirely different background than the rest of her schoolmates are also often spotted in sneakers combined with tube socks and not the stockings that Blair and Serena had such an affinity to.

We’re living in the age of reboots, but very few have managed to nail the perfect formula for a successful one. Most struggle to find the right balance between nostalgia for the original and offering something fresh for a new generation and this is sadly the case for the new
Gossip Girl, at least in the pilot episode.
For some of us, it might not feel like enough time has passed since the original
Gossip Girl ended in 2012 to warrant a reboot, but for today’s teens, it’s a relic of the past. The updates in the new show highlight just how much has changed within one micro-generation: the characters are much more diverse at least when it comes to ethnicity and sexuality and Gossip Girl is now an Instagram account, not a blog.
Gossip Girl here, I’m back and as opulent as ever.
Executive producer and creator of the HBO Max reboot of
Gossip Girl Joshua Safran, in the weeks ahead of the premiere, had fueled speculation the new generation of Upper East Siders were woke, alert to racial and economic injustice rather than obsessed with sex, drugs and lavishness.
Safran would like to disabuse you of the notion the new crew is any less outlandish.
“The kids are more aware of their privilege . and yet they still abuse it. That’s what makes the show fun: it’s actually worse if you’re aware of your privilege and you’re like, ‘Oh, I would never do that,’ and then you still do it,” Safran said.
