DANBURY, CT - The Spring Virtual Production Series at Western Connecticut State University continues on Saturday when the stream for The Covid Decameron was shared. Armed with my season pass, I pushed the play button on my monitor to enjoy the projects prepared by a large group of university students.
Dramaturg Sydney Maher explains in her note in the virtual program that this project was inspired by a collection of novellas that was among the countless works of art that came out during the Renaissance, which took place despite The Black Death (or the Bubonic plague) that was gripping Europe and Asia. The Decameron was written by Giovanni Boccaccio and followed a group of ten people who fled to a villa outside of Florence to escape the plague. WCSU Theatre Arts announces Spring Virtual Production Series
DANBURY, CT The Western Connecticut State UniversityDepartment of Theatre Arts announces its Spring Virtual Production Series. The series comprises four unique productions that will be broadcast twice over two weekends spanning Thursday, April 29, through Sunday, May 9. A ticket to each performance date will allow the purchaser to access the show over the course of 24 hours that day. Tickets are available at wcsuvpac.eventbrite.com. The WCSU Theatre Arts faculty is very proud of what we ve been able to accomplish this year regarding our virtual productions, said Department of Theatre Arts Associate Chair and Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre Justin P. LEWISTOWN Hundreds of students and scouts will visit Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) state parks this spring to get their hands dirty and learn about natural areas stewardship as part of the annual Earth Day in the Parks event series.
Participants will help plant pollinator gardens and other native wildflowers and grasses, transplant tree seedlings, and assist with removing exotic plants to improve habitat.
“Earth Day in the Parks events encourage a sense of ownership among participants in improving natural habitat and helping wildlife in state parks near their homes and schools,” said IDNR Director Colleen Callahan. “These events are more than just field trips as the students, scouts and adults who participate can return to the parks to see that their projects are worthwhile.”

SPRINGFIELD – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources announced the launch of the new CICADA (Conservation Inclusive Construction and Development Archive) website, an online resource which aims to engage the public and private sectors in habitat protection, restoration, and biodiversity conservation through voluntary actions.
The site, which can be viewed at https://cicada-idnr.org, serves as a one-stop-shop for residential and private landowners, as well as commercial and industrial sectors, to find guidance and ideas to make their properties or development projects more wildlife friendly.
