(MENAFN - Gulf Times) Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has concluded ‘You are Precious campaign to raise awareness about cervical cancer, the sixth most diagnosed cancer among females in Qatar according to Qatar National Cancer Registry (QNCR) 2016 at the Ministry of Public Health. The campaign included many virtual workshops and competitions to raise awareness about signs, symptoms and risk factors about the disease and encouraged early detection by distributing 100 vouchers to do Pap Smear test free in Al Ahli Hospital.
Specialists including Dr Aisha al-Thani from Aisha Salman al-Thani Centre; Dr Sahar al-Ani, consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Middle East Centre; Nour al-Bisani from Diet Delight Centre; Dr Nagham al-Kreedi at Al-Dafna Medical Centre, as well as media figure Amal Abdul-Malik participated in the campaign.

Doha: Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) recently joined the other countries in sixth Gulf Joint Cancer Awareness Week under the slogan, ‘This is my decision .
The awareness week was held under the Gulf Union Against Cancer in co-operation with Gulf Centre for Cancer Control and Prevention. The first week of February was adopted every year as to raise awareness about cancer. in Gulf region.
QCS participated in Gulf Joint Cancer Awareness Week as a member of the higher coordination committee. The awareness activities aimed to fight risk factors to reduce number of cases, encourage early detection to increase recovery rates, and unify media messages in the GCC.

The programmes reached many living with cancer as well as healthcare professionals and others directly as well as through social media platforms, said Dr Hadi Mohamed Abu Rasheed, head, Professional Development and Scientific Research Department, QCS at a webinar organised by the Ministry of Public Health recently. As for financial assistance to cancer patients, QCS in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation and Sidra Medicine, has assisted 1,300 patients with almost QR20mn, Dr Abu Rasheed said. The official noted that with agile leadership and the early activation of a management plan and its official transformation, QCS was able to reach the cancer patients and healthcare workers more than what was planned for 2020 despite the pandemic of Covid-19.

The NT government has settled on two IT partners to deliver its planned $64 million integrated child protection case management system following an extensive two-year procurement.
The government on Wednesday said that UK-based software provider Liquidlogic, which specialises in case management systems for social care, and local IT firm SRA had been selected for the project.
The new case management and data exchange solution, to be known as the Care system, will replace the territory s existing community care information system (CCIS), which will reach end-of-life in December 2021.
The Department of Corporate and Digital Development (DCDD) is leading the project, formally known as the client management system alignment (CMSA) program, on behalf of Territory Families.
