Asus may be working on a compact flagship smartphone under the Zenfone series. The Taiwanese smartphone company may bring Zenfone Mini that will be smaller than the Zenfone 6 and Zenfone 7, although a definite size is not available right now. As obvious as it is, Asus seems to have been inspired by Apple that launched its first compact flagship in recent years, the iPhone 12 mini last year. However, how fruitful this inspiration will turn out to be is something only time will tell.

Asus could be working on Zenfone Mini which is expected to be a compact flagship smartphone, as per the latest report. Asus has two smartphone series: the Zenfone and the ROG Phone lineup that is refreshed every year. The company also released a mid-range Zenfone Max Pro M-series but didn’t continue its development after two iterations.
According to a fresh report by DigiTimes (via Notebookcheck), Asus wants to improve its smartphone business after a lukewarm Q3 2020 due to the pandemic and supply chain disruptions that ensued. Asus understands that it has lost some footing and wants to expand its smartphones portfolio. The Zenfone Mini is expected to be a compact flagship smartphone similar to Sony’s Xperia Compact phone.

Now it seems though that the Japanese manufacturer is aiming to bring the Compact moniker back in the Xperia lineup with a new device.
