Misuse of Remdesivir, charging excess fee observed
Officials of the Vigilance and Enforcement (V&E) Department conducted raids on several COVID hospitals in the State on Wednesday and booked cases against nine hospital managements for allegedly misusing Remdesivir vials and for charging excess fee from patients.
The officials, who constituted flying squads in all districts, verified the records and interacted with the attendants. They reportedly unearthed several irregularities at some hospitals and arrested three persons, including the MDs of two hospitals, said V&E Director General K.V. Rajendranath Reddy.
The squads conducted raids on Queens NRI Hospital in Vizianagaram, Rich Hospitals in Nellore, Prakasam Hospital in Ongole, Sri Gayatri Hospital in Kurnool, Ramadevi Multi-Speciality Hospital in Tirupati, Puvvada Hospital at Narsaraopet in Guntur district, KCH Hospital in Kadapa, Komma Hospital and S.V. Multi Speciality Hospital in Anantapur.

In view of alleged overcharging and fleecing of COVID patients by some private hospitals, the State government decided to implement a three-tier structure for effective implementation of COVID management.
According to a government order (G.O.) issued on Monday, a State-Level Task Force Committee had been constituted to monitor the effective functioning of the District Level Flying Squads and cluster level in-charges and review the complaints received from time to time.

Amaravati, April 27 : The Andhra Pradesh government is set to adopt a three-pronged strategy to check the spread of coronavirus in the state.
According to a media statement issued by the state government following a review meeting on Monday to discuss the prevailing Covid situation, orders have been issued to adopt a three-pronged strategy to ensure better treatment, oxygen, quality food, medicine, water and sanitation facilities in the Covid hospitals, allotment of beds to Covid patients and to check the services of the Covid call centre.
The three pronged strategy, which will work from the districts to the state level, will ensure that no private hospital charges more than the prescribed rate, and also monitoring of the medical services in the hospitals.
