A larger question today is not who will be elected to the 51 seats of the Senate or which party would get a majority in the Upper House of the Parliament on March 2, but how some of them would become senators? Will they get into the House on merit or through corrupt and immoral practices which in the past many years have gripped our system?
The journey for a democratic Pakistan has never been easy since its independence 73 years back. Unfortunately, democracy became the first casualty in the country which was formed after a long democratic struggle led by the founder, Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, who was a firm believer of high democratic values.
IHC orders restoration of playground illegally allotted to lawyers by March 23

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a detailed judgment against encroachments and unlawful construction, ordering the restoration of a playground illegally allotted to lawyers for chambers.
A four-member larger bench headed by Chief Justice Islamabad High Court Justice Athar Minallah issued a 30-page judgment stating that the role of a lawyer in the society is extraordinary and unique as he is a defender and soldier of the Constitution.
The court ruled that allotments to the football ground or any other place by the Islamabad District Bar were illegal and that the lawyers who were allotted illegal chambers also did not have legal justification to build the chambers on state land.

In the remote district of Tando Allahyar, there is a room home to the lifeless, or rather lifelike, forms of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Benazir Bhutto, Abraham Lincoln and numerous others.
They rest side by side, as their creator, Fakeero Solanki, busies himself with playing with clay, wood, plaster of Paris, fibreglass and plasticine, to produce masterpieces with his gifted hands.
Solanki, who bade farewell to formal education after intermediate in 1996, was neither imparted the skill of sculpting at an art school, nor did he have the privilege of working as an apprentice to an art maestro. And so, he found a spiritual mentor in Michelangelo- the famous Italian sculptor, painter, architect and poet.
