Stanley Miller grew up about 10 minutes away from Case Western Reserve University. But the college was far from a fixture of his childhood. You knew when you were growing up, you weren t welcome on this campus, the now 73-year-old said.
Miller is a Glenville High School grad. The neighborhood of the same name is next to the campus, along with Hough and the city of East Cleveland. Black residents predominantly live in each of those three areas. Forty-four percent of Case s 11,465 total students last fall were white. Six percent were Black.
Ted Ginn Jr. retires after 14-year career

With the ninth overall pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins selected a receiver who would never have a chance to succeed in South Florida. When Ted Ginn, Jr.’s name was announced, Dolphins fans, who thought the team was set to select quarterback Brady Quinn, were stunned. When Cam Cameron told the draft party that the team had not drafted just Ginn, but his entire family, the boos began and the clock was ticking on Ginn.
He only lasted three years playing for Miami, becoming another entry in the list of draft picks who did not pan out for the Dolphins. But, it was never Ginn’s fault that Miami selected him in the first round in a year when quarterback was all the fans wanted.

The 14-year veteran is hanging up his cleats. Ginn announced his retirement on Friday s edition of
NFL Total Access on NFL Network. Sad to say, but not really sad to say, really joyful to say that I m going to take my time and retire this year, Ginn said. I had a great career. Little League to NFL. I have nothing to hold back. I enjoyed my time at every level. I played at the highest level. I m just thankful to be able to have this time and it s a joy.

CLEVELAND (AP) Ted Ginn Jr. returned to Glenville High School on Friday to announce his NFL retirement.
The 36-year-old former Ohio State receiver and returner played for his father, Ted Sr., at Glenville before moving on to the Buckeyes and the NFL.
“I’ve dedicated my entire life to football until now,” Ginn said. “I’m going out in peace. . On my own terms, not forced out.”
Ginn spent 14 seasons in the NFL with Miami, San Francisco, Carolina, Arizona, New Orleans and Chicago. In 193 regular-season games, he had 412 receptions for 5,742 yards averaging 13.9 yards a catch and 33 touchdowns. He also returned four punts and three kickoffs for touchdowns.
