Supermarket giant offers up distribution arm to help with AstraZeneca vaccine as private sector mobilises 30 December 2020 • 8:44pm Tesco has offered to help ministers roll out coronavirus vaccines as the private sector throws its weight behind the biggest immunisation programme in British history. The supermarket’s subsidiary Best Food Logistics is understood to have offered up its network of refrigerated lorries and warehouses as part of a race to give the newly authorised Oxford University/AstraZeneca vaccine to millions of people by April. Hotels and conference centres have also offered to open up their venues to be used as sites for mass vaccinations to be carried out, while the pharmacy sector has urged the Government to make use of its high street network to deliver jabs.

When poor health ended his career prematurely after 30 years, Mr Hare had been Norfolk’s director of adult social services. However, four years later, in 1999, he had quadruple heart surgery and made a complete recovery. With renewed enthusiasm, he spent the next 25 years as a nationally respected healthcare and social care consultant. He became heavily involved with Norfolk groups and charities including serving as chairman of Thornage Hall Independent Living, near Holt, and vice-chairman of Aylsham and District Care Trust.
