The Victorian government is introducing tougher Covid restrictions with thousands of people in isolation awaiting test results from high-traffic exposure sites including Highpoint shopping centre and the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The stateâs acting chief health officer, Dr Clare Looker, on Wednesday night said masks would be compulsory indoors from Thursday.
âThere are steps we can take right now to protect ourselves and each other,â she said in a statement.
Face masks will be mandatory indoors â other than in private homes â for all Victorians aged over 12 unless an exception applies. Workplaces and secondary schools are covered by the new rules.
