Keighley project to help people into work

A PROJECT is being launched in Keighley aimed at helping people into work. The initiative is designed to give those who are currently jobless the skills and confidence needed to find suitable employment. Spearheading the venture is Keighley Town Council, in partnership with Craven College. As part of the Keighley Works project, people will be offered free access to a range of practical and educational resources and support – including focused training courses, work placements and accredited volunteering opportunities. Tailored help will be provided by a new town council trio of community key workers – Helen Bannister, Chris Corkindale and Sarah Barnes.

College students help homeless

STUDENTS from Craven College’s Public Services and Supported Learning programmes have taken part in a social action project to give back to the local community. Particular emphasis was aimed at those who had found themselves with nowhere to live for a variety of reasons. Their aim was to try and bring some festive cheer at the end of what has been a difficult year for everyone, especially those with no homes and the increasing difficulties charities have had in reaching out to them. Many charities have also suffered through struggles to maintain fundraising due to lockdowns and other restrictions.
