Signal Staff Writers A Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station motorcycle deputy was critically injured in a traffic collision with a big rig in Valencia Wednesday morning. The deputy, identified by Sheriff Alex Villanueva as Chad Perrigo, of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, was reportedly stable but in critical condition, according to sheriff’s officials. “(The) semi-truck, 18-wheeler, did a left-hand turn right in front and failed to yield for the oncoming traffic, the motorcycle. It was a head-on collision,” Villanueva said in a video posted on the Sheriff’s Department’s Facebook page. “It’s going to be a long road to recovery and our thoughts and prayers to him and his family.”
