Steinlage replaces Lynne Rains, who is transitioning to Barkers Mill Elementary as principal.
Steinlage has served as assistant principal at Byrns Darden Elementary School since 2018. Previously, she has served as an academic coach at Byrns Darden and Hazelwood elementary schools and a teacher at Hazelwood Elementary. During her tenure with CMCSS, which dates back to 2010, Steinlage has also served as a site-based induction specialist and on several school and district-level committees.
She earned her M.S. in Educational Leadership K-12 from the University of Tennessee Martin and her B.S. in Elementary Education from the University of South Florida. Steinlage completed the McREL Balanced Leadership Training for Administrators, as well as several Kagan Professional Development workshops.
United Way grant money set to help local kids stay active
The United Way of the Wabash Valley is providing a second grant to help keep students active.

WABASH VALLEY (WTHI) - The United Way of the Wabash Valley is providing a second grant to help keep students active.
In total, $30,000 will be distributed to several local schools and organizations across the Wabash Valley. The money comes from the United Way s Youth Success Impact Council.
The aim is to help keep students active and involved in school.
The grants help those in kindergarten through 12th grade who struggle with attendance or staying engaged in class.
Video of Nevada Union High School choir students’ songs are recorded onto a single track, where the class can be heard singing as one. Choir director Rod Baggett has used this system to be able to keep choir alive during the COVID-19 restrictions.

Teaching in the performing arts can be a “performing art” in itself.
Effective teaching is essentially a performance art. During a pandemic in which most students are taught via distance education, performing arts teachers are faced with particularly complex challenges.
Nevertheless, performing arts instructors are adapting to the complications presented by remote teaching. They are learning to experiment with technology and to creative new approaches to help their students become performers.
Rochester Public Schools narrows in on new boundaries

Rochester Public Schoolsis narrowing in on a decision for its new boundaries, which will determine what elementary, middle and high schools students attend based on their residences.
John Carlson, executive director of finances for RPS, updated the school board on the boundary-change process on Tuesday. In addition to working with a consulting firm on the process, the district created a committee to determine the new boundaries.
