Amid the suffering due to a devastating economic crisis and a global pandemic, the beatification of José Gregorio Hernández, affectionately known as the doctor of the poor, is a testament of the faith and hope of the people of Venezuela, Pope Francis said.
In a video message released by the Vatican April 29, the pope said Hernández s beatification is a special blessing of God for Venezuela and an example for Venezuelans to follow as they work toward reviving the country with a spirit of reconciliation.
Florida has reported 5,306 new coronavirus cases today for a total of 2,233,518 cases.
According to data collected by Johns Hopkins and analyzed by NPR, the average number of daily coronavirus cases this week is around 5,311 new cases a day.
That’s a 13 percent decrease from last week’s daily caseload and a 15 percent decrease from the daily numbers two weeks ago.
The state has added 77 new coronavirus-related deaths for a total death toll of 35,161 residents.
About 8,808,680 people have gotten their vaccine.

Pope Francis says he hopes the beatification of Venezuelan doctor José Gregorio Hernández will be a moment of unity for the troubled country.
ROME – Pope Francis had intended to send his Secretary of State to Venezuela this weekend, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, he settled with sending a long video-message instead, asking for the “beloved nation” to come together “with seriousness and sincerity” in favor of democracy, peace and prosperity.
