(WSFA) - Armory Athletics in Montgomery will soon have an American Ninja Warrior inspired program with the construction of a brand-new gymnasium. Located off Madison Avenue, adjacent to Cramton Bowl, the additional building will offer Armory Athletics an extra 9,600 square feet to expand their programs. The new gymnasium will be primarily used for Army Athletics competitive teams. (Source: WSFA) Missy Anderson, director of Armory Athletics, said they have had hundreds of children on a waiting list to join their gymnastics programs, and they hope this additional space will allow more people to join.

(WSFA) - The influx of football fans who traveled to the city of Montgomery for two bowl games at historic Cramton Bowl are expected to provide a much-needed infusion of cash into the local economy. On Dec. 23, Memphis took on Florida Atlantic at the inaugural Montgomery Bowl, and on Christmas Day, Marshall Thundering Herd took on the Buffalo Bulls at the seventh annual Camellia Bowl. Both games brought in families from across the country.

White passed for 284 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Tigers to a 25-10 victory over Florida Atlantic on Wednesday night in the Montgomery Bowl, snapping a five-game bowl losing streak. The Tigers (8-3) built a big halftime lead, withstood a third-quarter rally and ended coach Ryan Silverfield’s first season with a second straight win. “They’ll go down in history for their fight and everything they did this season,” Silverfield said, adding that his team ended up playing with 53 scholarship players.

Fifteen bowl games have been cancelled this year due to COVID-19. The Memphis Tigers and Florida Atlantic Owls are facing off in the Montgomery Bowl Wednesday night. Then the Marshall Thundering Herd and Buffalo Bulls are set to meet in the 7th annual Camellia Bowl on Christmas Day.
