TDOT reports icy road conditions in Middle Tennessee as flurries continue Natalie Neysa Alund and Rachel Wegner, Nashville Tennessean Although the wintry mix that slammed Middle Tennessee ended overnight, hazardous road conditions continued Tuesday, the National Weather Service in Nashville reported. All counties across Middle Tennessee reported icy roads, or patches of ice and snow, according to the Tennessee Department of Transportation.  Into the evening, neighborhood streets throughout Nashville remained snow and ice covered and posed a risk to travel, the Metro Nashville Police Department reported. Main roads & interstates are passable, but still have snow & ice on them, the department tweeted.  If travel is absolutely essential, please drive slowly & very carefully. Stay home if at all possible.

(WTVF) — Tennessee Department of Transportation crews are still working around the clock, clearing and treating roads ahead of the next winter storm. A Winter Storm Warning goes into effect at 6 p.m. as another system looks to bring snow and a wintry mix. TDOT says all counties in Middle Tennessee are reporting icy roads. Crews have been applying treatment to interstates through the night, but extreme temperatures have kept many locations icy. Plows are working to clear primary routes and working nonstop to make roads passable.

Two weather-related deaths reported by TEMA Natalie Neysa Alund and Rachel Wegner, Nashville Tennessean Nashville and much of Middle Tennessee awoke to freezing temperatures, ice and patches of snow across cars, driveways, sidewalks and roadways on Monday and more frigid weather was expected to hit the region over the next 24 hours. As of about 6:45 p.m. Monday, hundreds of vehicle crashes and thousands of power outages had been reported across the region. Law enforcement and city leaders continued to urge residents to stay home. If they  must venture out they re asked to bundle up, drive slowly and watch their step.
