Dominic Cummings delivers a masterclass in defying expectations

Dominic Cummings delivers a masterclass in defying expectations The Prime Minister s former adviser dials down the soundbites but still throws shade at the Treasury and trashes the Department of Health 17 March 2021 • 8:00pm Head in hands moments: Dominic Cummings testimony to MPs may have been short on juicy soundbites but it delivered some withering diatribes on the frustrations of Whitehall bureaucracy For some time, Dominic Cummings’ critics have experienced a post-Brexit supply and demand issue – one reason why they so often get him wrong.  Unreconciled Remainers – expecting a deregulating Thatcherite to transform Britain into a dystopian Singapore-on-Thames – are left baffled by his love of state aid and big infrastructure projects. Chorley A&E closure consultation is scrapped

Updated Friday, 26th February 2021, 8:00 pm There has been a question mark over the future of Chorley and South Ribble A&E for over five years The Post understands that Matt Hancock made the eleventh-hour intervention not long after local NHS bosses had been told that they could finally set a date to formally ask residents for their views on the future of the facility. Ms Harrison praised distillers work during the pandemic and highlighted the importance of the Lakes Distillery, based near Bassenthwaite, to the tourist economy. Shed 1 Distillery said it was vital the Government continued to support growing businesses in the region.

Tories under fire for celebrating post-Brexit return of the booze cruise

THE Tories have come under fire for celebrating the “return of the booze cruise” as a “Brexit boost” to areas which support ferry services to Europe. From January 1, the regime covering what goods could be brought into the UK from overseas duty-free was applied to EU countries for the first time since 1999. At the same time, the Government increased personal allowances so that passengers coming to Great Britain can now bring in, for example, three crates of beer, two cases of still wine and one case of sparkling wine duty-free. However, as part of the changes, VAT-free shopping for non-EU international travellers came to an end.
