PM Oli calls for Security Council meeting amid political crisis in Nepal ANI | Updated: Feb 23, 2021 11:46 IST Kathmandu [India], February 23 (ANI): Nepal s acting Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called for a Security Council meeting on Tuesday morning amid rising political uncertainty following his decision to dissolve the parliament last year. Oli, who is also the Chairman of the Security Council, has summoned a meeting at 9:30 am at his official residence in Baluwatar where Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel, Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa are expected to be present. It is a regular meeting which is always held after a certain interval of time, Defense Secretary Reshmi Raj Pandey told ANI in a telephonic interaction.

A special bench of the Supreme Court of Nepal has reinstated the Lower House of the Parliament which was dissolved by the government of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli in December 2020.  The SC has deemed Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli's decision to dissolve the House as an unconstitutional move, thereby overturning the decision. With this, the house will be reinstated. The Constitutional Bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana has directed the government to summon a session of the House of Representatives within 13 days.
